Après l’obtention d’un baccalauréat en génie civil de l’Université de Sherbrooke et d’une maîtrise de l’Université de la Colombie Britannique, Caroline Frenette a développé une expertise sur la conception de structures en bois et des structures mixtes dans un bureau d’ingénierie en France. Simultanément, elle a participé activement à la construction d'une maison expérimentale bioclimatique. Sa thèse de doctorat de l’Université Laval, sur l’analyse multicritère des murs à ossature légère en bois, l’a amené à étudier plusieurs aspects de la performance des bâtiments, dont l’impact environnemental basé sur l’analyse du cycle de vie.
Mme Frenette a participé au développement de Cecobois comme conseillère technique entre 2009 et 2020. Après un mandat de 2 ans comme professeure en génie civil à l’Université du Québec à Rimouski, elle est de retour chez Cecobois à titre de Gestionnaire senior – Construction durable et formation.
Caroline Frenette holds a doctorate from Université Laval on the multicriteria analysis of light frame timber construction, a master's degree from the University of British Columbia on the seismic behaviour of timber structures and a civil engineering degree from the Université de Sherbrooke. Over the past 25 years, she has developed, by her work in Canada and in Europe, a recognized expertise in the field of wood engineering and ecological construction, including interests in timber structure, building physics, durability and assessment of environmental impacts based on life cycle assessment. In this regard should be highlighted, her participation in the construction of an experimental bioclimatic house, in the writing of several technical guides on wood construction and in the creation of GHGMAT, a GHG assessment tool for buildings.
She participated in the development of Cecobois as a technical advisor between 2009 and 2020. After a two-year mandate as professor in civil engineering at the Université du Québec à Rimouski, she is back at Cecobois as Senior manager – Sustainable construction and education since 2022.
